NCASI Engagement in NIACS

  • NCASI regularly invites NIACS team members and partners to share information with member companies about new research and tools related to carbon management and climate adaptation.
  • NCASI helps provide connections for NIACS to learn about climate change expectations in forest certification standards.
  • NCASI and fellow NIACS partner University of Vermont are collaborating on studies of the application of tree-planting projects for climate adaptation, as well as the potential tradeoffs associated with climate-smart forestry and a variety of ecosystem services.
  • NCASI and fellow NIACS partner American Forests have collaborated on large-scale soil carbon analysis for multiple regions in the US. The most recent assessment, Land-use change and forest management effects on soil carbon stocks in the Northeast U.S. was published in 2024.
